Please join us as the Mines Jazz Band Combo D make their first appearance at the Concert Series. Jazz music is truly a unique American art form. Originating in the late 19^th and early 20^th centuries in New Orleans from its African-American communities, jazz music evolved from ragtime and blues to swing, bebop, cool jazz and free form styles. Jazz music features degrees of improvisation, syncopation, rhythm and polyphonic ensemble playing. The Mines Jazz Ensemble Program provides opportunities for students to participate in a musical ensemble in a jazz big band format.
